This unique large rug is a NEW product, handwoven in the traditional way. The detail photo clearly shows how the special dyeing of the wool creates a mottled colour effect. This is a new handwoven product. See the photo of the rug when it was being woven. A video of this item is available. A Röllakan is a handwoven rug with a cotton warp and a wool weft. Röllakans usually have geometric and traditional patterns. These rugs are known for their flat and dense weave, making them ideal for high-traffic areas. Röllakans are double-sided, which extends their lifespan. In the past, people would save one side of the rug for special occasions and use the other side for daily use. Röllakans are easy to maintain because wool is naturally dirt-repellent. Additionally, wool has the pleasant property of being heat-insulating, making it wonderfully comfortable. The origin of the word 'röllakan' lies in the old Swedish word 'rygglakan' (a type of 'back sheet'). These handwoven rugs were hung on the walls of Swedish houses and huts to keep out the cold wind. A Röllakan is a completely handmade product that cannot be industrially manufactured.
