Very beautiful large decorative plate in glazed ceramic by J.G. Picard, a couple of French ceramists Max and Dominique Picard. It features an elegant hand-painted design depicting a stylised rooster surrounded by flowers and foliage, emblematic of their production from the 1960s-1970s. The nuanced glaze, in shades of beige, brown, grey, and blue, offers stunning drip effects and texture that give the piece its unique character. The decoration, treated in a style that is both naive and modernist, fits perfectly within the aesthetic of French ceramics from this period. A decorative piece of considerable size that can be displayed on the wall or as a centrepiece. Signature on the reverse. Generally in good condition. Notable is a small chip on the reverse at the edge of the plate, which does not affect the presentation or sturdiness of the piece. Some light signs of age consistent with its antiquity {height: 6cm - diameter: 34.5cm -}.
