Superb animal illustration from the 1930s-1950s, representing two studies of felines in motion, made by andré margat (1903-1997), a french painter and sculptor known for his naturalist approach. His precise and expressive line, influenced by the art deco aesthetic and the zoological studies of his time, dynamically captures the elegance and power of the mexican puma and the young sudanese lioness, each sketched with great anatomical mastery. This printed illustration is hand-signed in pencil by the artist, testifying to its authenticity. The whole is presented under glass in a sober black frame, highlighting the finesse of the drawing. In good general condition, the plate shows some marks of time which reinforce its period character. Its dimensions, 40 X 30 cm including frame, make it a piece of choice for collectors of animal art and zoology enthusiasts.
