Antique box from Southeast Asia - gilding and inlays - 44 cm

Very beautiful antique box from Southeast Asia, probably Burmese, featuring a rich relief decoration with scroll and swirl motifs, enhanced with gilding and small inlays of colored glass or mirror. Its domed lid, cut-out feet, and decoration covering all sides give it a lot of character. The interior is simple, in a dark shade. The structure is relatively lightweight. Dimensions: 44 × 21 × H. 24 cm. Condition: antique item showing marked patina and several visible defects: cracks, small losses of material, lifting of the decoration, losses of inlays, and wear of the gilding. Overall, it remains very decorative and retains a beautiful presence. The Burmese origin is probable given the style and technique, but is not certified. Ideal as a jewelry box, storage box, or decorative collectible item.
