Antique 19th Century Large English Elm Wooden Straight Sided Dairy Wash Bow

Wonderful large wooden bowl dating from the 19th century, circa 1850. This bowl would have been hand turned from a very large piece of english elm wood. The wood, over time and with use, has mellowed to a light cloudy appearance that aged elm wood is renowned for. This would have originally be used as either a dairy bowl, or possibly a wash bowl. Aged over time, there are cracks and old worm holes to the wood. The size of the bowl makes it an incredibly impressive piece. A truly magnificent piece with wonderful patina and colour. 48cm diameter 11.5cm tall. St1649.
