Very beautiful work of the french painter germain delatousche (1898-1966). Painter, illustrator and wood engraver. From a youth in the shadow of the cathedral of chartres, germain delatousche drew a desire for art making him a bohemian montmartre and montparno, poor, disabled following a serious accident in his childhood, but colorful. Open to all, he was a friend of the realist painters of his generation. In love with the butte-aux-cailles, where he had his studio for a long time, he became the painter of old paris, also a painter of misery. In addition to visual artists, he rubbed shoulders with proletarian writers and anarchist circles to whose newspapers he provided many illustrations. More than fifty books have been decorated with his engraved woods. (germain delatousche: wood engravings, drawings, some paintings, testimonies & documents, plein chant) This work represents old paris, a dead end in the 13th arrondissement more precisely. Oil on canvas, montparnasse frame. The canvas and the frame are in very good condition. Size: Frameless h64 X l80. With frame h82 X l98.
