Antique pine side table – Central Europe, around 1910

Antique side table made of pine wood from Central Europe. It comes from rural domestic furniture of the early 20th century, when this type of table served as a support in country bedrooms and kitchens. Pieces of this type were made simply and artisanally, with a lower slatted shelf allowing everyday items to be stored in view. The upper top, with rounded corners, rests on four straight square-section legs connected by a lower shelf with vertical slats. The original white paint has naturally worn away with continuous use, leaving large areas of exposed pine wood.
