Superb system furniture, this Victorian table in mahogany and mahogany burr veneer is of English manufacture and dates from the 1860s. Stamped JOHN FURLONG. The imposing oval top, in mahogany burr veneer, lifts with astonishing simplicity: just operate the beautiful brass handle located under the top. With a magical "click, " it releases the top, which tilts forward with one hand on two brass rods. You then discover the handle and its stamp: Atkins & Son, Birmingham - Registered August 16th 1866! As well as the manufacturer's label for the table: JOHN FURLONG, 136, 138 Powis Street Woolwich, Manufacturer Upholsterer. Furlong, established in 1812, closed its doors more than a century later. But this table dates from the 1860s and is part of the long line of Victorian furniture from Furlong, which overflows with generosity: starting with the choice of wood, extremely warm and bright, then the shapes that exult here, particularly at the feet, and also the ornaments, such as these splendid floral elements carved directly into the wood. An incredible detail, it is on its original porcelain castors! They even bear the mark: C & C Patent. For like all exceptional furniture, every element is of quality and duly claimed by its manufacturer. There are a few rare and superficial surface scratches on the top, some signs of use, but it is in excellent overall condition, perfectly functional and usable as is. L: 130 cm. D: 97 cm. H: 74 cm. With the top folded: 156 cm. The price is firm, thank you. Delivery possible in the Île-de-France area to your doorstep for 40 euros.
