An elegant circular guéridon from the Empire period in flamed mahogany, resting on three tapered legs joined by a triangular stretcher with a concave profile. The top is fitted with an inset black marble, highlighted by a finely moulded brass gallery. The apron features a front drawer adorned with its original gilded bronze pull. The supports are enhanced with remarkable chiselled bronze appliques depicting sphinx or antique caryatid heads, an emblematic motif of the Empire decorative repertoire inspired by Egypt and classical antiquity. The legs end in bronze hooves forming lion's paws, a refined detail that accentuates the prestigious character of this piece. The whole reflects a beautiful quality of craftsmanship and a harmonious balance of proportions.
