Designed in 1968 by Milanese architect Sergio Asti and produced by Candle, the "Venticinque Senior" completes the renowned Venticinque family of reading lamps. The series included a table model (Junior), a medium-sized floor lamp, and this taller, fully adjustable version, shortlisted for the Compasso d'Oro in 1970. This is the original Candle production, a limited-edition piece that is no longer manufactured. The lamp's essential geometry—cylindrical stem and domed head—is enhanced by its chrome-plated metal and brass construction. The height is telescopic, ranging from 120 to 170 cm; the main stem pivots on its axis, and the spherical shade can be angled, allowing for precise directional lighting. A small opening on the opposite side of the shade diffuses a soft light, subtly balancing task and ambient illumination. A technically refined yet simple design, it retains its original foot switch and wiring (functional but not compliant with current standards; rewiring available upon request). This design highlights Asti's attention to ergonomics and Candle's role in the evolution of flexible home lighting.
