This magnificent bowl is a piece of French ceramics, typical of productions from Vallauris or a workshop working in this style, probably dating from the 1950s to the 1970s. The work of emerald green glaze (often referred to as "empire green" or "emerald green") combined with gold highlights was very fashionable during these decades. It is part of the modern slipware movement or post-war art ceramics. The geometric relief pattern (diamonds and crosses) recalls basketry work, a classic of certain workshops like Saint-Clément or the creators of Vallauris. The stamp "M" Identification: The "M" stamp impressed under the base often corresponds to a workshop mark, modeller, or a specific manufacturer. Probable origin: This type of imposing piece (41 cm is a rare and prestigious size for a bowl) is frequently attributed to houses like Massa (in Vallauris) or sometimes associated with luxury distributor brands of the time (family Massier Jerome, Delphin, etc.). There is a small impact that is not very well restored but is not noticeable since it is on the back. We can notice small brown granules; this is simply limestone that comes off when cleaning, but it does not detract from the overall condition, and as I am not a cleaning specialist, I prefer to leave it as is.
