Majestic, here is a word that characterizes this fruit bowl! Very large, it will be perfect to sit in the middle of an imposing table, and it will not go unnoticed! It is made of openwork ceramic with many reliefs and a beautiful green glaze that was very popular in the 1930s (it is on the photos on a white background that the shade of green is closest to reality). Its aesthetic mixing straight and curved lines evokes the art deco style. I would therefore date it from the 1930s to the 1950s. The reliefs are enhanced by gilding, there was probably more originally, but it disappeared with years of cleaning as is often the case with these gilded ceramics. It does not have a stamp but two small golden lines underneath, marks that I have already found under ceramics identical to others bearing the saint clément stamp. But i'll let you be the judge, and in any case, this piece is so imposing, so original that it necessarily comes from a recognized workshop. This cup is in good general condition, no cracks or large chips, but has some marks of its age and its past lives: small chips on the rim but rather in the lower part so not very visible, a chip on the upper flat rim, and some chips on the pointed reliefs in the basket but which have been masked by a little gilding, in a rather skillful way it must be admitted, because I only noticed them once I got it back, by touch! These "hidden" marks of the life of the object also bear witness to a time when objects were not thrown away at the slightest defect, they were made to live as long as possible, they were passed on to the next generation and this is surely even more true for this kind of imposing piece which must have been relatively expensive. This cup measures 41 cm in diameter and 10 cm in maximum height.
