This modernist relief was designed by svend åage jensen for the danish manufacture søholm during the 1960s. Number 3509. Made of glazed stoneware in brown and green colors. The zoomorphic motif shows a heron. Svend åage jensen (1918-80) was a glaze expert. At the age of 14, he started as a ceramics student, and over the years he developed his skills in the potter's wheel and glass technique. He developed many projects for søholm, where he worked from 1944 until his death. Known for various items made in the sgrafitto technique and glossy glaze. The largest project was the manilla pottery series from 1964. Søholm is the oldest pottery factory on the bornholm, the danish island. It was founded in 1835 in rønne by herman sonne wolffsen and edvard christian sonne. During its existence, the factory has produced many iconic and highly collectable items. It closed in 1996 after 161 years of operation. Most of the pottery from søholm after 1960 is stoneware, or stentøj in danish. The word was inscribed or stamped on the object. This relief is in original vintage condition. It has a hook for mounting on the wall.
