Antique cache-pot in moulded faience, from the famous Sarreguemines factory, identifiable by its stamp under the base and model number 244. Majolica model, a name given by the factory to a series of richly decorated pieces, inspired by the historicist and naturalistic aesthetics that were very popular at the end of the 19th century. It is distinguished by a strongly raised vegetal decoration, rhythmically adorned with scrolls, stylised leaves, and floral medallions, enhanced by a palette of deep and nuanced greens, elegantly contrasting with a bright turquoise blue interior glaze. The flared shape, balanced by a wider base, gives the piece a strong decorative presence, ideal both as a collector's item and as a cache-pot or centrepiece on a console or shelf. Height 17 cm, diameter 15.5 cm. In beautiful vintage condition, with an old restoration visible inside and minimally outside, stabilised, not affecting either the solidity or the overall aesthetic. This intervention, properly executed, is part of the object's life and explains the good preservation of this piece, which is now relatively rare in this format (see photos). The Sarreguemines factory, founded in the 18th century, is one of the great names in French ceramics. Models like Majolica testify to this desire to offer pieces that are both ornamental, accessible, and resolutely decorative. A characterful, decorative, and expressive piece, perfect for a charming home.
