Very beautiful oil on canvas by the French painter Eugénie Moujon-Gauvin (1850-1910), an artist exhibited at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, known for her delicate landscapes and rural scenes with impressionist accents. This composition depicts a path or waterway bordered by abundant vegetation leading to a few village houses with red roofs. The soft and slightly misty atmosphere, combined with a thick and vibrant touch, evokes certain intimate landscapes of the Paris region or the Charentes, themes regularly associated with the artist. The texture work is particularly interesting: raised brushstrokes, foliage constructed with a knife or in impasto, diffuse light in the sky, and beautiful reflections in the water. The painting is presented in its important antique stuccoed and gilded wooden frame in the Rococo Louis XV style, which particularly enhances the work. Dimensions with frame: 58 × 79 cm. Dimensions without frame: 55 × 38 cm. Technique: oil on canvas. Period: late 19th – early 20th century. Condition: generally good antique condition with signs of age consistent with the work's age. Note: some visible losses on the frame currently; these will be restored by our workshops before shipping to preserve the harmony of the whole. An ideal piece for collectors of antique French painting, charming interiors, country houses, or classic and romantic decoration.
