Large Kashan carpet mid-20th century."circa 1970" period of the Shah of Iran - quality: kork wool - dimensions: 4.45 x 3.30 meters. Weaving in the imperial workshop of the Shah signed by master Isa Arbabi. There are some missing wool on the edge, a lack of fringes in places but nothing serious. Shipping only to member countries of the European Union. Not Austria. This carpet is inspired by the famous Ardebil carpet, exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Kashan carpets are among the best in Iran thanks to the quality of their wool, their extremely tight knotting and the beauty of the colors and designs. The background is almost always decorated with a central medallion which ends at the top and bottom with two floral crowns. On the rest of the background, flowers and foliage are intertwined. The border is most often decorated with the Herati motif for the central band and rosettes for the secondary bands. Some examples are with subjects and knotted in silk. The background of the kashans is often brick red or dark blue. A carpet with a blue background often has a medallion and red borders and vice versa. The panj rang ("five colors") is knotted only with wools of five colors. The background is generally ivory and the motifs in various shades of beige, gray and azure blue.
