Very large table lamp Leaves Bird of Paradise published by Maison Charles in France around 1970. This sculptural composition combines a cubic base in cream lacquered metal with a bouquet of long leaves in gilded bronze, whose open volumes create an elegant play of shadows and light. The rectangular fabric shade extends this verticality and highlights the decorative character of the whole. Renowned for its creations inspired by the plant kingdom, Maison Charles developed from the 1950s a decorative vocabulary that is immediately recognisable, where chiselled bronze and brass interact with highly sophisticated naturalistic forms.
