Fernand laval (1886/95-1966) Oil on canvas. "village street" Signed lower left and dated 1951. Beautiful quality. Montparnasse wooden frame. Dimensions with frame: 73x84cm. Dimensions without frame: 54x64, 5cm. Very good condition. *fernand laval (1886-1966) arrived in paris in 1912 where he became friends with maurice utrillo and roamed the streets of montmartre with his easel. In 1913 he married rachel cohenet and in 1920 he made his first appearance at the salon d'automne where he presented a painting entitled "from montmartre to les halles". He also worked abroad, notably in the netherlands, painting many windmills in the years 1927-28 and he went to belgium, where he painted the port of antwerp. In homage to renoir in 1963 he painted the house of renoir "la collette" in cagnes-sur-mer.
