Overview: Early Biedermeier secretary desk from Austria, circa 1820. Compact two-section form combining an upper cabinet, fall-front writing surface and lower enclosed storage. Materials: Walnut and maple veneers on hardwood carcass with ebonized detailing. Brass hardware and capitals; writing surface covered with black genuine leather. Interior: Fall-front opens to reveal a fitted interior with nine small drawers (maple fronts with brass rings) and two open compartments. Wide black-stained compartment beneath and a secret hiding compartment; two iron keys supplied. Hardware & Feet: Carved front paw feet with gilt accents and ebonized rear egg-shaped feet. Double lockable inlet brass lock and ebonized full columns with metal capitals and bases. Dimensions: Height: 151 cm • Width: 100 cm • Depth: 47 cm (largest listed measurements).
