We are delighted to offer for sale this magnificent cast iron garden bench or seat from Coalbrookdale, featuring a nasturtium design dating from around 1870. The backrest and open sides showcase a naturalistic design with intertwined leaves, flowers, and seeds of nasturtium, topped with a classical mask. The metal structure of the seat is solid and stable, as are the oak slats. The piece bears the full Coalbrookdale Co stamp with design number 195629, the largest size produced in this pattern. In good structural condition, the glossy white paint requires minor touch-ups due to early signs of rust on the back; it was repainted about 10 years ago and shows some signs of wear. The oak slats are in good condition and were likely replaced during the last repainting. Dimensions: height: 91 cm, width: 151.5 cm, depth: 56.5 cm, seat height: 43.5 cm. All measurements are taken at the widest point. Please refer to the very detailed photos that are part of the description regarding the condition. Please note that original vintage items like leather seats will always have a natural patina with creases and wear; it is recommended to wax annually to prevent moisture loss. Additionally, hand-dyed leather should not be exposed to direct sunlight for long periods as it dries out and discolours.
