Quinta chair, model 605, designed by Swiss architect and designer Mario Botta for Alias in the 1980s. Completely made of black metal, it combines a geometric structure in lacquered steel with a seat and backrest in perforated steel sheet. The high, slightly curved backrest extends the structure in a rigorous composition where lines, planes, and the transparency of the perforated metal directly contribute to the design. The Quinta is part of the research conducted by Mario Botta on furniture alongside his work as an architect. Its highly graphic construction and the apparent use of industrial materials are characteristic of this period of postmodern Italian design in the 1980s. Edition: Alias, Italy, circa 1985.
