Quinta Chair by Mario Botta for Alias, Italy, 1986

Already an accomplished architect, Botta designed a range of furniture for the company Alias during the 1980s. His designs tend to include a strong sense of geometry, often being based on very simple shapes. The Quinta chair is constructed with metal tubing with folded perforated sheet metal seating. This example was for years used as a garden chair explaining the strong rusty patina. We chose not to restore it. This example was used for years as a garden chair which explains the rusty surfaces. The chair construction is good and stable and this chair can possibly be restored. We choose not to do this simply because we liked the look of it and believe it would make a good garden chair still.
