Danish daybed model GD1 by Karsten Gransgaard

This modern GD1 chaise lounge designed by Karsten Gransgaard for Gransgaard Design comes from Denmark and was made some time in the early 2000s, but it corresponds to classic designs of the Bauhaus period. This sculptural piece combines ergonomics with minimalist elegance, featuring a continuous, wave-shaped seat made from tightly woven webbing in an earthy olive tone, beautifully complemented by a chromed steel frame. The GD1 model includes a 10 cm height-adjustment function: when in use, the seat gently lowers under the user’s weight, and once vacated, it automatically returns to its original position—an ingenious detail of Gransgaard’s functional design ethos. A cylindrical adjustable headrest, held in place by leather straps, enhances comfort while adding a warm tactile contrast to the cool metal frame and woven surface. Gransgaard Design has been manufacturing high-end daybeds and lounge chairs, concentrating on perfect execution, top-quality materials, and a minimalist look.
