Set of 3 kokeshi dolls (large size)

Lot of 3 old japanese kokeshi dolls in good condition. Beautiful patina for these: ) the first measures 45 cm for a head diameter of 13 cm. The second measures 40 cm for a head diameter of 11 cm. The third measures 36 cm for a head diameter of 10 cm. At the beginning of their creation, these dolls representing little girls were small toys for children, before being sold as souvenirs for tourists. Their production then diversified in terms of size, shape and decoration. In the past, there were several words for japanese dolls, depending on where they were produced (kogesu, kiboko, deko, etc.). At a meeting of artisans and collectors in 1940, it was decided that the word kokeshi (こけし?), written in hiragana, would henceforth serve as the standard name.
