Antique glazed earthenware jug

This small antique glazed terracotta jug embodies all the rustic charm of pottery from bygone eras. Hand-modeled and then covered with a protective glaze, it testifies to the traditional craftsmanship of rural artisans. Its generous body, with its simple and functional shape, was designed to store everyday liquids—water, oil, wine, or cider—while protecting them from light and evaporation. The terracotta, patinated by time, now reveals a lustrous surface where the glaze plays with the light, blending warm shades of brown, honey, and ochre. The small irregularities, traces of the throwing and firing process in a wood-fired kiln, lend it a rare and profoundly beautiful authenticity. The number 2 is engraved on one side.
