Gabriel Burmeister (1886-1946) was a multi faceted artist, graphic artist and pottery that founded Gabriel Keramik in Timmernabben in 1925. He was born in Karlshamn and studied at Tekniska skolan in Stockholm, followed by studies in Paris and Stuttgart. His artistic career started within graphic art where he developed his own technique called “The Gabriel method”. Burmeister’s interest for pottery grew and he worked for a period of time at both Upsala-Ekeby and Boberg’s Faience Factory before he started his own business. In 1925 he acquired Tillinge Faience factory which became the start for Gabriel Pottery.
