Spherical stoneware vase made in La Borne by the ceramist David Whitehead. The surface is highly worked, made of layered glazes and slips, with reliefs, cracks, and material accidents. The colours blend: deep black, red, pink, white, blue, ochre, and brown, with a touch of pale green. Each side of the vase has its own face, somewhat like a miniature planet or a piece of abstract art. Unique piece, handmade, in the tradition of the potters of La Borne (Cher), one of the major French centres for stoneware ceramics. Height 12.5 cm. Diameter 12 cm.
