Table "Dark Matter" straw marquetry

"Dark Matter" Artwork 97 X 63 X 5cm. This artwork is a contemporary wall piece composed of an assembly of relief cubes made from straw marquetry. Each square module features a finely crafted surface, where the straw fibres are arranged in various orientations, creating subtle geometric patterns and a richness of textures. The whole forms a structured abstract composition, where the cubes appear to interlock and shift in relation to one another, generating a play of depth and volume. This relief construction captures light dynamically: depending on the angle of view, the surfaces alternate between satin reflections and more matte areas, revealing the finesse of the artisanal work. The monochrome palette—dominated by shades of black, anthracite, and grey—enhances the graphic and modern character of the piece. The matte black wooden frame, simple and elegant, highlights the composition without distracting from it, while providing a clean and contemporary finish. The overall effect exudes an aesthetic that is both minimalist and sophisticated, where geometric rigor interacts with the delicacy of the natural material. Unique piece, dated and signed.
