Fast and careful shipping. Ehlén Johansson: Born in 1958 in Sweden. She chose to study at HDK, the School of Design and Crafts at the University of Gothenburg, which allowed her to explore craftsmanship and industrial design. She began her career at IKEA as an intern in 1984 and, for nearly 40 years, she has been creating objects as diverse as vases, glassware, cabinets, and bedroom furniture. As an independent designer, Ehlén Johansson designs her own products but also collaborates with other brands. For the Nytillverkad 2024 collection, she reinterpreted one of her old IKEA products, the OPTIMUM series from 1994, with generously shaped vases. While the original models were made of fine earthenware with a matte glaze, Ehlén chose to create these vases for a new generation in a more durable stoneware and in new colours. "If I had been asked to design a new vase, I would have started from scratch. With SKOGSTUNDRA, I was able to take my old model and improve it, " explains Ehlén.
