Beautiful engraving by h. Lallemand after a painting by giuseppe angeli, representing a soldier carrying a sword and, behind him, a young boy playing the drum. Giuseppe angeli (1712-1798) was an italian baroque painter who worked mainly in venice. In 1741, he joined the brotherhood of painters known as "fraglia". In 1745 he was director of the studio of giovanni battista piazzetta. Eleven years later, he was appointed professor of nudes at the academy of venice, and even became its president in 1772.his most beautiful achievements are two paintings in the church of san stae (venice) and also a series of frescoes in the villa widmann-foscari (not far from padua).
