old school desk

Magnificent school desk, dating from the early 20th century. It features an inclined writing surface and has a porcelain inkwell and a grooved pen rest. The top lifts to reveal a storage compartment, and on the inside of the flap, there is a black section that was once used as a slate. Its seat is height-adjustable. This desk has been restored (a slat of the seat has been replaced and the hinge of the flap has been repaired, as seen in the photos), treated and waxed, but it has deliberately not been sanded, allowing its original patina to be preserved, revealing the marks left by numerous schoolchildren, a patina that gives it all its value and character.
