Alphonse Mucha poster

Alfons mucha, also spelled alphonse mucha and alphons mucha, born in eibenschütz on july 24, 1860 and died in prague on july 14, 1939, was a czechoslovak poster artist, illustrator, graphic designer, painter, and art teacher. He is a major representative of the art nouveau style. Poster presented (zodiac) is a lithograph in 50 X 65 format in very good state of conservation and original color, we know at least nine variants of this lithograph, including this one which was printed on thick paper without text to serve as a decorative panel. Zodiac was mucha's first job as part of his contract with the champagne printer and was originally designed as an internal calendar for the company. In this composition, mucha incorporated twelve zodiac signs into the halo-shaped disc behind the woman's head, one of mucha's usual motifs. The majestic beauty of the woman is emphasized by her regal allure and elaborate jewelry.
