Large Vintage Amber Bubble Glass Bowl – Hand Blown Art Glass Centerpiece – Ikebana

A beautiful and unusually large vintage bowl made from thick, hand-blown amber glass with countless air bubbles trapped within the material. Its wide, shallow shape, warm honey color and gently raised circular foot give the bowl a wonderfully sculptural Mid-Century character. Light passing through the substantial glass beautifully highlights the bubbles and subtle variations created during the hand-blowing process. The base bears an unusual impressed maker’s mark. Despite careful research, the exact glassworks has not yet been conclusively identified. The material and bubble-glass technique are reminiscent of French Biot glass, but the bowl is being offered as a piece of unidentified European studio glass rather than with a definitive attribution. A versatile decorative object This striking bowl can be used in several different ways: as a large decorative centerpiece or fruit bowl, as a vessel for a minimalist Japanese-inspired ikebana arrangement, as a shallow botanical composition with branches, flowers, stones or a kenzan, or as the basis for a creative pendant light project. Turned upside down, the bowl can be transformed into a beautiful amber glass pendant shade. Its warm color, generous 32 cm diameter and tiny bubbles would create a fascinating play of light. Please note that the bowl is sold on its own. Flowers, ikebana accessories, electrical fittings, cables and suspension hardware shown in inspirational photographs are not included. Any conversion into a light should be planned and carried out by a qualified professional using a suitable custom fitting. Altering or drilling vintage glass can cause damage and is done entirely at the buyer’s own risk.
