1930s Bauhaus Industrial Scissor Arm Wall Lamp, Black Enamel, Czechoslovakia

An exceptional example of early 20th-century European industrial lighting, this adjustable scissor arm wall lamp was manufactured in Czechoslovakia during the 1930s. Combining functional engineering with the restrained aesthetics of the Bauhaus and Machine Age movements, this vintage industrial fixture represents the practical elegance of prewar European design. The lamp features an articulated accordion-style metal arm that extends and retracts, allowing the light source to be positioned according to individual requirements. The naturally developed patina, surface oxidation, and traces of historic use emphasize the lamp’s industrial heritage and contribute to its distinctive visual character. The vertical wall-mounted support and adjustable scissor mechanism create a strong architectural presence, making the lamp equally suitable as functional task lighting or a decorative statement piece. The lamp has been electrically rewired while retaining its original vintage appearance. CONDITION Good original vintage condition with signs of age and use consistent with its approximately 90-year history. The original metal components display authentic surface oxidation, patina, scratches, and areas of lacquer wear. The black enamel shade retains its original character with minor age-related wear. The electrical wiring has been renewed. Please refer to the detailed photographs for an accurate representation of the lamp’s condition. DETAILS Origin: Czechoslovakia. Period: 1930s.
