The Vermilion Kikkō Vanguard lumbar pillow is a Japanese silk lumbar cushion, handmade from an authentic vintage Fukuro Obi, woven in the Nishijin tradition of Kyoto. On a midnight black silk background, the Kikkō (hexagonal turtle shell, one of the oldest Japanese symbols of longevity and protection) is depicted in deep vermilion and burnished gold, with platinum silver highlights at the intersections. At the centre of each hexagon, Hanabishi floral crests emerge in layered metallic threads, creating a hypnotic architectural depth that no printed fabric can match. The Kikkō motif has adorned the robes of Japanese nobility for over a thousand years. On this cushion, it enters the European interior not as mere decoration, but as a statement of geometric authority—just as captivating on a monochrome sofa, a richly upholstered armchair, or a bed dressed in deep anthracite linen.
