Pair of modernist armchairs in oak, Reconstruction, circa 1940

A pair of solid oak armchairs with a low and very graphic design. Their deliberately stripped-down structure combines straight uprights with horizontal crosspieces that outline both the backrest and the armrests. The slightly recessed seats are upholstered in forest green fabric. A representative model of French furniture from the Reconstruction period, favouring simple lines, solid wood, and functional construction.
