Exceptional pair of plates from the famous Creil and Montereau factory, period Louis Béard et Cie (L.B. & Cie), circa 1840-1860. These plates in Opaque Porcelain (Ironstone) reflect the taste for "Chinoiseries" during the Second Empire. Decoration: Very rich "Japan" or "Pagoda" motif. The design is done by black transfer, and the colours (emerald green, brick red, yellow, and blue) have been enhanced by hand. Details: A pagoda, an ornamental vase, and lush vegetation can be seen. The border is worked with cartouches and floral motifs. Stamp: Complete marking on the back "Gold Medal - Creil et Montereau - L.B. & Cie", guaranteeing authenticity and period. Condition: Good overall condition for pieces over 160 years old. Note a slight patina of time. Dimensions: Diameter: 22.3cm. Height: 2.8cm. Weight: 380g.
