Jacques DESTOOP first had a career as an actor at the Comédie-Française. It was there that he "sketched" his first characters on cigar box lids: actors in the wings, but also himself in the role of Cyrano de Bergerac or the "critics" comfortably seated in their armchairs... He loves satire and often caricatures with a wry humor. In his work, figurative paintings in the expressionist manner alternate with abstract or quasi-abstract paintings, in which the material finds its place.
