Floor lamp by Guillerme and Chambron

Superb solid oak floor lamp by Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambron, featuring four lights mounted on beautiful ceramic bowls by Boleslaw Danikowski, and two integrated shelves (65x28cm) in perfect vintage style. The light fixture was designed by the French manufacturer Votre Maison in the early 1950s. It is electrically powered and in perfect working order. The wood is solid oak, with a lovely honey color and a patina of use for this piece of furniture, which is over 70 years old. The story of Votre Maison began in 1940 in a stalag in East Prussia. Brought together by the absurd consequences of a war, Jacques Chambron and Robert Guillerme waged a daily struggle to survive and preserve what they considered essential: human dignity. The war dragged on. To better endure the present, they hatched plans for the future. Then came the post-war years, with the country in need of reconstruction. Chambron and Guillerme resumed their former professional activities. Guillerme returned to Lille, in northern France, to practice his craft as a furniture designer. Graduating top of the 1934 class of the Boulle School, he excelled in architecture and interior furniture design and put his talent to work at the Rogie workshops. Chambron, a graduate of the Reims School of Applied Arts, resumed his work as a painter and decorator in his Parisian studio on Rue Nollet. In 1948, Jacques Chambron and his family left Paris and settled in Lille. The initial project took shape: Guillerme and Chambron met Emile Dariosecq, the owner of a cabinetmaking workshop, and in 1949, Votre Maison was born. Ceramicist Boleslaw Danikowski (1928-1979), after studying at the Beaux-Arts in Lille, practiced his craft as a potter-ceramicist in a small village in northern France, and designed the emerald bowls that hold the lamps.
