Sofa Series 400 Mid-Century in Teak with Rattan Backrest by Hartmut Lohm

An exceptionally beautiful and extremely rare sofa from the 400 series, designed by Hartmut Lohmeyer for Wilkhahn, Germany, around 1960. This elegant piece is among the finest designs of mid-century German modernism and impresses with its harmonious proportions, floating appearance, and sophisticated combination of materials. The frame is made of dark-stained African teak. The slightly inclined backrest is covered with original rattan weaving, while the seat and backrest have been reupholstered in high-quality warm boucle fabric from the premium Danish manufacturer Kvadrat/Sahco. The interplay between the fine wood, delicate weaving, and textile surface gives the sofa exceptional depth and timeless elegance.
