Lounge chair by Jindrich Halabala, 1940s

This lounge chair was designed by Czech designer Jindrich Halabala and produced by Up Zavody in Czechoslovakia in the 1940s. The beech structure has been fully restored and revarnished, and has been professionally reupholstered with new padding and fabric. Typical of this model, the steam-bent wooden armrests and a strongly inclined backrest provide a comfortable seating position. The structure is solid and stable, stained and varnished to protect the wood. The off-white 'Bulu' fabric is a blend of polyester, acrylic, and cotton, made by Aristide, a quality Belgian brand. It is a very durable fabric but soft to the touch. In very good condition, fully restored, ready to be used daily as a lounge or reading chair.
