Splendid little wooden veneered week planner. Work from the Faubourg.

Superb small weekender, made of blonde veneered wood, inlaid and topped with its thick scalloped marble. This is a Louis XV style piece, crafted according to the rules of the art (known as Faubourg work, for the Faubourg St Antoine in Paris where the best cabinetmakers traditionally reproduced style furniture). It rests on two curved feet fitted with gilded bronze, and opens to reveal 7 drawers (hence the name weekender), each equipped with a very elegant gilded bronze pull handle. The flat sides are discreetly but fully inlaid. Some pieces have a little something extra, likely due to their patina and proportions... This one is among them. There are small marks on a corner of the marble, but these are due to the wear of the stone (no cracks or restorations). Overall excellent condition, with no missing veneer, which is quite rare.
