An antique Dutch painting from the second half of the 19th century. This oil on canvas work, retaining its original canvas, depicts an Impressionist landscape featuring a farmer and demonstrates fine painterly skill. It is a modestly sized piece, suitable for antique dealers and collectors; signed "Louis Ludwig" (a signature that is difficult to decipher) at the bottom left, it can be attributed to the Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Henri Louis Ludwig (1856–1925), though it lacks a certificate of authenticity. The painting boasts a beautiful patina, with the artist skillfully rendering the Flemish landscape in the background as distinct and recognizable using only a few strokes. In the foreground, a farmer wearing a cap stands waiting, leaning on a staff beside a tree (see photos). The painting shows minor signs of age but remains mounted on its sturdy original stretcher (see photos). Overall, the work is in good condition.
