Ribbed bowls Orchies Moulin des Loups and others

Set of five adorable small ribbed white ceramic bowls adorned with a golden frieze. One is stamped Orchies, Moulin des Loups, France, and is very slightly different from the others, with slightly finer and therefore lighter earthenware, and a slightly deeper foot. The other four have a slight impressed mark, possibly a 7, under the base. They are to be embraced with their flaws but will still make a lovely effect on a table in a wabi-sabi spirit, a principle so relevant today, in this era where simplicity and acceptance of the patina of time and imperfections should guide us to consume less. Indeed, all have small defects that testify to their age: a crack that is still well joined on the Orchies, an impressed mark inside and a chip that seems to be glued back on the foot of the second, and small chips and tiny punctures, original defects that have darkened over time, and the golden trim on the edges of the bowls is more or less faded on each. They measure 11 cm in diameter (10.7 for the Orchies) and approximately 5.8 cm in height, while the other three measure 11 cm in diameter and 5.5 cm in height.
