This splendid pair of Italian wall sconces from the first half of the 19th century is a refined example of period lighting. They feature elements made of carved, lacquered, and gilded wood. Their curved wooden arms showcase a two-tone finish and decorative details in gold leaf. They are complemented by shield-shaped (or "ventiline") lampshades in light fabric, adorned with visible stitching. Originally designed as candelabras or wall sconces, these lamps were often used to frame mirrors above fireplaces or to illuminate refined period interiors. H 80 cm - H 53 cm without lampshade - W 47 cm - D 46 cm.
