Pair of rattan wall lamps by Louis Sognot, 1950s/1960s. Born in 1892, Louis Sognot first learned cabinetmaking at Jansen. Influenced by metal furniture, he nevertheless sought new materials for his creations, including rattan. In 1939, he presented an economical hotel room entirely in rattan, but it was only after the war that he became a specialist in this material. These two wall lamps are one of the products of this research. Made in a traditional and handcrafted way. (This explains the few differences between the two, but these are only noticeable when the two wall lamps are very close together, for the needs of the photo for example.) In good condition, with original lampshade. Also original electrification (bayonet bulb), we have chosen to keep this electrification which helps to attest to the authenticity and age of these wall lights, but we recommend a re-electrification (simple to carry out) to current standards.
