This hanging wall shelf, called string, is typical of the 1950s-60s. This modernist shelf is made up of two vertical supports in black wrought iron and three shelves in black lacquered sheet metal. A true icon of scandinavian design, the string modular shelving system was created in 1949 by swedish designer and architect nils strinning (1917-2006) and his wife kajsa strinning. These modules have been available in colors and different materials by design firms such as tomado. It measures 59 cm in height, 48 cm in width and 17 cm in depth. I point out scratches from use and traces of oxidation. The sheet metal trays have notches on the edges to hold them on the uprights. For a light and vintage decor, it will support your books and your vintage collectibles...
