Large ceramic jug with 4 handles, Dieulefit Caves

An iconic piece of 1960s art pottery. This glazed ceramic jug/jar has a drop-shaped silhouette enhanced with four ribbon handles and a caramel glaze highlighted with brown on the handles and neck. The underside is signed in line: "Les Grottes Dieulefit" - a renowned workshop active in the 1950s-70s and sought after by lovers of mid-century Provençal ceramics. Very good overall condition: glossy glaze, original regular micro-crazing. Note: chip of ± 4 mm under a handle, invisible when placed (see zoom photo). Felt pads present under the base for the protection of furniture.
