Plaster bust of Vitellius (Aulus Vitellius), Roman emperor in the year 69 AD, during the turbulent 'Year of the Four Emperors'. Vitellius was known for being overweight and a bon vivant, which matches the full cheeks and double chin on this bust. His reign lasted only a few months before he was defeated by Vespasian and met a violent end. This statue dates from the late 20th century, 1980-1990.
