Venetian Lantern Chandelier Murano Glass Blown Caged, 1970s

Vintage Venetian lantern in Murano glass "caged", featuring a mouth-blown glass diffuser in milky blue/aquamarine that expands harmoniously through the mesh of a hand-forged wrought iron structure. The caged glass technique involves the glass master blowing the molten glass directly into the metal cage, causing the glass to protrude outward, creating the typical bulging or "bubbled" effect. This model, complete with a decorative chain and coordinated ceiling rose, generally dates from the period between the 1950s and 1960s and is often attributed to the historic Venetian manufacturer Seguso Vetri d'Arte or to artisans from the Murano area specialising in artistic lanterns.
